GLASS, WINDOWS & DOORS
Glass in a Green Building has a great impact on the energy performance and also offers the possibility to bring Daylight into the room. The glass should be double glazed with a low U-value and also indicate a low Solar Heat Gain Coeficient (SHGC) to reduce the heat gain through the glazed area. The Visual Light Transmittance (VLT) is reflecting the amount of daylight which will penetrate through the glass (the higher, the better).
Doors should be manufactured from urea formaldehyde free composite boards or FSC certified wood (products). Local products should be preferred.
